How secure is teaching jobs in a private school? Thanks.
The economy drives the train on whether any position is secure or not. I just read where a prominent private school in London is closing its doors after being open for 137 years. There is no fail safe determination on whether you will survive as a teacher in a private school, but certainly the track record of a school should be taken into consideration. The local economic situation, student enrollment, how well you are respected by the school and parents of students, and other factors will all have a bearing on your "security" in a private school as a teacher. Also consider that you likely don’t have credentials, or a teacher certificate (licensure), otherwise you would likely be teaching in a more secure but not totally secure public school. Good luck and I hope this has helped you to make a sound decision on your future and your career.
I want to know how to start a private school program for kids k-6. Thank you.
who would want to go to a private school
I know that some public schools have school uniforms and others don’t, but do all people that go to private schools wear school uniforms?
Not at all.
I work at a private school in the IT help desk department and i need some simple ideas to bring in Technology wise! Anything that will enhance the classroom experience!
OOOH you gotta use this:
http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Products/SMART+Boards/Front+projection/
This is an interactive touch and drag screen white-bored that plugs directly into the pc in a classroom. My boss added two to our schools inventory and lemme tell you something …. I HATED my math class growing up.. But something amazing happens when you can actually touch and manipulate your math problems. It comes with all kinds of software and it even has markers that appear to write but don’t really. It’s the coolest thing ever and whomever gets to tech wit hit will be great-full as hell.
I’m thinking about going to the eighth grade this fall to a private school, what should I do to prepare? Other than the ISEE, I’m already studying for that, but since I haven’t been to school since second grade and would like your advice. THanks!!
as soon as you get in school join a couple clubs that meet regularly. go to a couple meetings and pick at least one you like and promise to stick out the year. I’m serious your best Friends in school will prob not be from class but the clubs. Try it.
I’m transferring to a public school next year when I am a junior. I only know two people there but the two people happen to be my best friends. I am scared! How different is private and public? My friends at my private school think i’ll get beaten up or won’t make friends. Have any tips?
i have been in both private and public. private for middle and highschool
one of my friends transfered to a public school and went wild she got into drugs and everything else because it was much more readily available. (not saying that is true of were you live) she made friends but it took awhile for kids to quit saying she was a rich bitch since she came from a private school. you should expect larger classes, used/ beaten up textbooks, a much wider variety of kids, definately wont be as pushed as you were in the private school in forms of homework and tests. but it all varies on where you live
I was having a discussion with my class a few weeks ago after seeing a clip from a documentary that painted the picture that public school was the enemy in education. The documentary included clips from movies about public schools, and showed students fighting in the bathroom, beating their teacher to a bloody pulp, and even a movie depicting the events of Columbine. It seems like students from these schools get the same reputation as the schools they go to. It seems that many people wrongfully share this opinion of public schools, even though 60% of college applicants went to public school, and the two best schools in my city, while exclusive, are public schools. In addition, Columbine could have occured at a private school, as can students beating up their teachers, and fighting in classrooms, and I don’t understand why public schools get this negative vibe from so many people. This kind of got me wondering about what people’s perceptions of private schools and private school students are — what would you say people’s perceptions of private schools and the students who attend them are? Would you call these views negative or positive?
Thank you for your answers.
Hey
I have attended private school all my life which is almost 13 years now. The biggest difference that I have noticed it the ability to disciple. if you disobey the rules in anyway you get demerits, 10 demerits you get a detention 20 you get detention on a Saturday 40 you get a meeting with the principle and your parents and 60 you get expelled. We also wear uniforms and that stops people from constantly being judged by where they shop and how much money that have. It forces people to learn about one anther through who they are and not how they dress.
In order to get in to my high school you have to take an entrance exam and that kinda tells you that you got in and there for you smart-ish idk how I got in lol. One of the things that i heard from a new teacher at my school was how she was told about the student and how great they are and she didn’t believe this because how can teenagers be great? but she really did find a difference between our students and the public school that she had taught at before. I love my school very much. I wish all the time that it would become a boarding school so I could just stay there. I love my teachers also, the classes are pretty small and you are always given the opportunity to talk to your teachers and really know them and I’m very close with a lot of them.
If you have and other questions you are more then welcome to email me.
The private school that I attend recently built a new athletic facility, separated from the main campus (no buildings are connected to it), but there are no water fountains in the building. Is it required for private schools to have water fountains in an athletic facility?
Please answer with a source! I may approach the school board with this, and I need a legal, legitimate source!
Yes
I am planning on boarding at a private school. I like the idea of sleeping at school because I wont have to worry about being late. I would like to know what to expect in terms of freedom, getting to see my family, waking up for school, and the advantages of being a boarding student.
freedom:
not a lot. there are lots of rules about curfew, over-night permissions, etc. they watch over you like a hawk so they know you are safe and sound. but most schools allow you to do whatever you want in your freetime, including going into the nearby town.
getting to see your family:
it depends on how far you live but most kids see their family every month through holidays, long weekend, parents weekend, college info weekend, etc. internationals go home about 3 times a year
waking up for school: i wake up an hour before class but i know some boys roll out of bed 10 minutes before class and still make it. (but smell bad)
advantages of being a boarding student:
the experience of having a roommate, dormmates, making the closest friends you have ever had. for boys it means x50 the number of video games, etc and for girls it means x100 more dresses, shoes, jewelry you can borrow haha
you also dont have to spend time commuting to and from home so you can sleep instead
expect to become a procrastinator and an awesome BS-er
