would improve education in your city or state?

I find this a bit curious since this sentiment generally permeates from some of the poorest, least educated parts of the country.
    No actual answers so far.

they know the system is broken and turning out morons on a daily basis….time to close dept of education(what a joke) and privatize the school system regulated by states.

I live in North Carolina and my daughter lives in the Republic of Panama, I want to get her in a university whose credits are recognized by the U.S. department of education since I’m petitioning for her to come and live in the U.S. as a legal resident in the future.

Contact the US department of Education for the information./

Is it possible for the Department of Education to secure and confiscate money held in Travelers Cheques?

Posted by admin on May 5th, 2010 and filed under department of education | 5 Comments »

Just wondering, as I am leaving on a year long trip soon and am purchasing American Express Traveler Cheques and am wondering if I owe money to the Department of Education for past student loans, if they can and are able to to take that money out of American Express to where I wont be able to use the cheques, just like if they were in a regular bank account?

    How so?

    that’s illegal

How many of you would abolish the US Department of Education?

What if all the States kept their money and provided what they wanted? What if Iowa wanted to teach about corn and Washington about expresso?

That would be fine by me, why do I who paid for my children’s education have to pay real estate tax for other people’s kids to go to public school

How is the federal department of education a violation of the 10th Amendment?

Posted by admin on April 23rd, 2010 and filed under department of education | 4 Comments »

In October 1979, Congress passed The Department of Education Organization Act.

    The 10th Amendment
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

We are a Constitutional Republic and a Republic is a government where authority is derived through election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them and members of congress were elected to represent the people of their states.

In other words the congress vote for the people.
The Supreme Court of the United States has not ruled the 1979 The Department of Education Organization Act unconstitutional.
You think they need more time?

The Supreme Court has gone wildly off track since 1900 with its focus on case law and precedent preservation. This has the effect of making erroneous interpretations permanent.

They need to return to strict interpretation and original intent.

Should we abolish the department of education?

Posted by admin on April 21st, 2010 and filed under department of education | 7 Comments »

Do not ignorantly or naively assume that abolishing the department of education will result in a decrease in the quality of education.

Billions of dollars have been given to this government bureaucracy over the years, and the quality of education has only gone downhill.

    Thank you!

Yes. Lets leave education to the states. The department of education wastes so much money that could better be used elsewhere

What can I do about a department of education wage attachment.?

Posted by admin on April 14th, 2010 and filed under department of education | 2 Comments »

I have been a community college teacher in PA for 10 years and recently the department of education attached my pay for $670.00 a month for student loans. Under the new laws, do I have options for getting rid of this attachment? The loan is over 20 years old and I have been in default for almost all of that time.

Why don’t you pay your debts like all responsible adults should do!

Can a conservative explain the advantages of getting rid of the department of education?

I mean do you really think it’s a good idea for each individual state to come up with it’s own curriculum? Look at how Texas is ruining their students with their changes to the curriculum, can you explain how this would be good for America if each state did the same?

They want to get rid of the Dept of Education because the schools are not teaching the kids that Jesus discovered America and that God gave people dark skin because they were sinners. They are pissed and are not afraid to show it.

Hey what else can you expect from a group of individuals that think creationism or intelligent design as they like to call it, is a science and belongs in the science classroom rather than in the mythological literature curriculum.

how can the US department of education promote english proficiency in immigrants n multilingualism?

Posted by admin on March 9th, 2010 and filed under department of education | 5 Comments »

Do you think that immigrants are ignorant to learn English? Why, can you give a solution to this without making English the official language of U.S.?

While being able to speak more than languages is a huge advantage these days, how can we also promote multiligualism?

should we start from the education system or the immigration regarding english?

    thank you!!!!!

What would be wrong with making English the Official Language, it’s already the official language of the government.

Look at other countries, most swedes speak English better than most English People do. To get a Multilingual system there must be the opportunity and the desire to learn these other languages. The opportunities must came from schools, but it’s the people who decide if they wish to learn the language or not. I was educated in the UK and forced to learn French for 14 years. all I can remember is around four sentences now.

These other countries have Hollywood Films, English Music and American programs surrounding them, I’ve never seen a Mexican Film or listened to enough French music to pick up what was being said.

The question is not whether it would be good to learn another language but is the need there that you need to? Apart from Holidays, where most people will speak english anyway, is there a time where you really need to know another language to get by? I can’t see that occurring in places like Missouri.
